Sunset Villa - Beach community
We’re back in Sri Lanka and already dreaming up the next chapter for Sunset Villa. After seeing how much our little beach house has grown into a place for family, friends, guests and the local community, we’re so excited to start planning the next phase of development.
Community Projects for Sunset Villa
Youth sports programmes — With cricket already such a heartbeat in the area, Sunset Villa could support coaching clinics, equipment drives, or mixed‑age beach cricket days. Your background in sport development makes this a natural fit.
Local artisan partnerships — Work with nearby craftspeople to showcase handmade goods at the villa — batik, coir products, pottery, spices. It boosts local income and gives guests a deeper cultural connection.
Beach conservation initiatives — Organise monthly clean‑ups, turtle‑friendly lighting guidance, or educational sessions with local schools. Sunset Villa becomes a steward of the coastline, not just a resident.
Hospitality training for locals — Offer short workshops on guest service, housekeeping, barista skills, or basic English for tourism. It’s a direct way to expand opportunities for young people in Wadduwa.
Community wellness days — Yoga on the beach, mindfulness sessions, women’s fitness mornings, or nutrition workshops. These can be low‑cost, high‑impact ways to bring people together.
More space, more experiences, more opportunities for the community - and lots of exciting ideas to bring to life.
